Kefalos is located 40 kilometers southwest of the town of Kos is a beautiful town built on a hill in the western part of the island. They were in ancient times, the first capital of Kos and today is inhabited by about 2,500 residents.

In Kamari you can see the basilicas of St. Stephen, dating from the 5th century and admire the beautiful mosaic decoration survives with beautiful decorative sculptures and other debris that have been maintained since then. Directly across from St. Stephen's Basilica, near the beach, is a small island castle with the chapel of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. At "Palaces", 3 km south, you can see the ruins of the ancient capital of the island called Astypalea, the ruins of the temple of Demeter (5th century BC), a temple of Asklepios, a Doric temple and newest one Hellenistic theater. Continuing on a hill stands the church of Panagia Palatiani, from where you can see the head and admire the view of the sea in front of your feet. The church of Panagia Ziniotissas also with nice sea views is located at Zini, 1-2 km south of the Palaces.
The cave of "white holes" located just after the church of Virgin Mary with finds from the Neolithic era, like many younger years. Just 7 km south of the head is the Holy Monastery of St. John, with the main feature of a huge perennial plane tree that covers the entire small church and precinct and n 'touches and the bell tower. 11 km south, you will come across the ruined church of Saint Mamas and beside the homonymous modern, not forgetting to tell you about the wonderful view you have at sea. 5 km north of Kefalos is a small bay and has a small harbor, the well known Limnionas after welcoming refuge here find small fishing and tourist boats when the weather spoils. 7 km southwest lies the deserted chapel of Agios Theologos, with beautiful coves and beaches with rocks.
